South Senegal (Casamance)

In the early morning we will pick you up at your hotel or appartment and drive to the border between the Gambia and Senegal. Here we have to registrate and get the right stamps in your passports. It depends on the day but it can take a while. Anyway you won’t be bored around the border, there is always a lot of activities to enjoy. After the customs we enter Senegal and have a drive of about an hour to Abene. Abene is a small fishing village, where we will visite a huge and holy tree (the silk cotton tree). Then we go to Kafountine and start a boattrip through the creeks of the Southern Cassamance. We will come along the pelican island and for sure you will see a lot of birds. We are hiding to an island where local people are growing cannabis. The cannabis plantations are in fact illegal but the government of Senegal is not able to counter them beacuse of their location in the wide creeks. We will also visit a local family on the island and see how they manage their live. Then we take the boat back to Kafountine, have lunch or dinner and start our way back to your hotel.

This trip is also possible as a two day-trip. You can stay the evening and night in one of the lodges. The two-day trip gives you more rest and time to explore and experience the little village of Abene. Please contact us for the prices.
