Makasuto
Makasuta is a beautiful ecotourism destination; located 45 minutes form the hotel zone. We pick you up in your hotel and then drive through Brikama, the biggest town in the Western region, to Makasuta. On our arrival complementary coffee will be served. An indigenous guide will inform you about the park, before we start the boat trip or forest walk, depending on the tidal system of the river. During the boat trip we will be able to spot colorful birds, oyster collectors and mangrove swamps. In the forest walk there is a good chance of seeing a group of baboons, monkeys, and birds. We will see beautiful natural vegetation and visit an indigenous fortune teller – who lived in the forest for over three decades- and a palm wine tapper who will demonstrate how they climb and tap the wine from the tree. If you dare, you will get the chance to climb a few steps with the local climbing belt and taste the fresh juice of the palm. Gambian style buffet lunch will be served, and the women from the village will take care of the entertainment. If you want, you can even join them in their dancing! The last stop in this trip contains a visit to a local handy craft market, where you can buy all kind of souvenirs. Then our transport will be waiting to take us back to your hotel.
